Arc/Info Graphics Plotting The graphics file physmap.gra was created in UNIX-based Arc/Info 7.0.4 in the ArcPlot module using "DISPLAY 1040". Some of the text on the map was composed using PostScript fonts that are not included in standard Arc/Info software. Unless these fonts are loaded on the host machine of Arc/Info and designated with the indicated font number, the graphics file will not run properly. The graphics file will not run in PC Arc/Info or AutoCAD, and probably will not run on other GIS systems. Even if the user chooses not to install the PostScript fonts indicated below (these fonts are not included with the datasets being provided), font references must still be designated for the font numbers listed below in order for the graphics file to run at all. Although different fonts may be substituted for those listed, unless the substituted fonts are in the same, or similar font families, the results may be less than desirable. Use a raster-type plotter or printer with this file. Pen or vector plotters do handle the polygon fills well. Fonts The PostScript fonts were loaded into the UNIX workstation in the $ARCHOME/fonts/psfonts/ directory. The syntax for the font setup in the $ARCHOME/arcexe70/locale/c/fontindex file follows. Refer to the Arc/Info reference documentation for more information on loading fonts. Font 60000 is PostScript Copperplate Gothic RomanûPlain. Font 60005 is PostScript Century Schoolbook RomanûPlain. Font 60007 is PostScript Century Schoolbook RomanûBold. The following is the text form used in the $ARCHOME/arcexe70/locale/c/fontindex file to enable Arc/Info to recognize the fonts and to make them available in the GUI (Graphic User Interface) ArcTools. The first line is all that is necessary for Arc/Info to find and use the font, if the font is specified by a number in an automated macro language (*.aml) file or in a graphics (*.gra) file as in the enclosed graphics file. The four lines below the first one enable the GUI ArcTools to find and display the fonts in a graphics box along with the other fonts available. Please note that the PostScript font files may have different file names than those listed below, depending on the font file data source. PostScript font files all have the same *.pfb file extension.
